TOUCAN GIN

At the end of 2019, it was just an idea, and today it is available in the Van der Valk hotels, at KaDeWe in Berlin, and online via Mampe Spirits. The "TOUCAN GIN" - is the first exclusive Van der Valk gin and something very special.

Together with MampeTOUCAN GIN, one of the oldest Berlin spirit brands, is a creation of ingredients that Van der Valk in the Netherlands has almost turned into a familiar trademark - just like the toucan.

The origin of the idea to create our own gin was rooted in the revival of the legendary dish for Van der Valk: applesauce with sugar-soaked cherries on top! However, this dish was not meant to be revived in its original form, but rather to be incorporated into a modern product.

The "TOUCAN GIN" was produced for Van der Valk in "Mampes new home" in Berlin Kreuzberg. Mr. Inden-Lohmar shares his experiences with us about the creation of Toucan Gin and reveals what makes it so special! "It was a really exciting project, because the idea was something completely new for us as well. A gin that should taste like applesauce and cherries sounded like a crazy idea at first. But it turned out to be excellent and that's exactly what makes this gin so special."

Handcrafted 100% in the Berlin manufactory and made only with natural ingredients from the original "Appelmoes" and "kers", TOUCAN GIN is a high-quality wheat distillate, made from juniper berries paired with a delicate flavor of applesauce, lightly sweetened cherries, and a hint of cinnamon.

Due to its exceptional flavor notes, this gin can be enjoyed neat and on the rocks. Perhaps one should even start this way and only in the second step add tonic or another mixer. We recommend two ways to mix it. Either a subtle, dry tonic to let the gin shine. Or a fruity tonic that complements and enhances the gin's flavor. But regardless, it will always taste great.
